I need your help on this:

Yesterday, I wanted to unscrew the first (upper) pusher's safety of my B01 to set the chrono running. I do that twice a month if I don't otherwise get to use the chrono. But, this time I was unable to unscrew the pusher. The pusher hadn't been used for about a month prior to this. I used a light pair of pliers to unscrew the pusher's safety, having taken care to put a cloth in between and the pusher unscrewed in no time and almost effortlessly. When I had fully unscrewed the pusher I noticed traces of what must have been dried oil. It had formed a ring all around the pusher which I was able to clean very easily using my usual glasses cloth. That would be the reason of why the pusher was stuck. The pusher then worked with no problem at all. And no similar problem with the lower pusher.

Any ideas of what may have caused this would be greatly appreciated. The watch, and chrono, still run flawlessly within COSC. Watch was manufactured in October 2009 and in my possession since December of the same year.

Could it not just be some small amount of "crud".....Perhaps a splash
of gravy....soup....soap having gone unnoticed and dried. :|

Wow! Two pliers on pusher screw posts in one day. Man I wonder what the over was on one. I would have put everything I have on that bet.

Well if contamination is not an option then I guess it has to be a broken down seal. However unlikely that might be, there's no other possibility.

Thanks Roff. That's what I thought too but found hard to believe. Do you think it needs Breitling attention or should I keep any on it and do nothing for the time being? My B01 being on croco, I do not put it in the water anyway...

If a seal is compromised then I would get it looked at, changes in termperature, rain, etc could easily allow moisture ingress.

Wow, sorry F14D_Tomcat that you have had this bother with your watch. Hope everything works out okay - please keep us up to date with the progress okay?

Called my AD today. She said that they probably cannot do anything more than I've already done. Since the pusher seems currently OK and there is no more leakage her advice is to just keep an eye on it. One reason might be the unusually cold temps we've had for the last 10 days or so (- 20 to -30°C). Otherwise, the B01 should go to mama, for a cost of course since it is not under guarantee anymore. But for now she doesn't judges that as urgent.

That's my point - there's no such thing. Your watch 'leaked' oil and the AD says that it's not an issue, so presumably the oil wasn't needed if you follow that logic.

Following that logic it's most likely due for an oil top up.
Better still oil change might be in order

She didn't say that oil wasn't needed, rather that if it doesn't leak again it might be an issue that can wait service since everything else is OK and the issue didn't appear again. But something that must be monitored.

Do you think that the watch must be sent for a service? Any check won't be free either, so if it is in for a check why not do the full service?
