Bergeon kit is amongst the best available and that's what I use. And yes there are different spring bar tools for bracelets and straps - the bracelet tools tend to be finer. However, (and while I'm not necessarily advocating using these methods), you can get away with using the blade of a small screwdriver (a 1mm screwdriver will do it) for removing a bracelet, and you can use the blade of a knife (something like a small kitchen knife will do. NOT a craft knife as the blade can snap) for removing straps. I have used both methods in past with no ill effects.... although you really can't beat a proper tool for the job. |

I reckon the best one is the fine tool I showed the link for. Maybe on 2nd thoughts the deluxe is too wide a fork (3mm) for fine work. Damian - I would go for the fine one for all straps/bracelets. It has a 1mm fork end so should get in just about anywhere. I've just ordered 2 off the Watch Tool site (half the price of eBay) so will report back when they come. That said I mostly (up to now) & carefully used a cheap tool and/or a small screwdriver (cheap one to save blades) as Driver8 said. |
