Hi everybody, This is my first posting and I hope someone can answer my query...or at least confirm what I think. I have a beautiful Headwind, which needs a new clasp attachment. The rest of the bracelet is fine. The clasp deployment is faulty and this causes it to come apart, the bar in the middle is bent. I want to know if the diameter of the clasp is 20mm or 22mm. I know the lugs are 22mm, can somebody confirm the clasp width is 20mm... .? Will try and source one then, breitling uk have quoted me almost 350£ for it, which seems a lot. Welcome. Breitling UK should be able to confirm the standard part. Isn't there a part number on the clasp? |

A few weeks ago there was a guy on eBay.co.uk selling what, to me, looking like genuine clasps. worth checking out! Good luck with it.

To the OP - again, if all that is happening is the clasp doesnt lactch properly and comes open, there is a good chance you don't need to spend a nickle. The center single bar of the clasp - the one printed in block letters with "Breitling" - can be slightly bent with out any tools to solve the problem. This is a common "fine-tuning" procedure. Post a pic and give us a better description of what is going on. Understand that piece is not supposed to be straight, it curves. Sometimes it can be very slightly too curved which makes the clasp hard to close and harder to open. A very slight straitening of the single bar solves the problem. Sometimes - and this MAY be your issue - the center bar is still curved, but slightly not enough. The clasp will not latch and freely comes open. A slight increase on the curvature solves the problem. This may not be your problem at all, but we don't know. Trying to save you money and hassle potentially. The fix takes seconds, literally. |

My wife had a Callistino which suffered this problem - we just took it in to our local Breitling dealer. The jeweller took it into his workshop for about 2 minutes and returned with a perfectly working clasp and there was NO CHARGE. I just added this in case you were afraid of doing this yourself Indiana.

this is what I'm getting at -  The curvature is not uniform so it is easy to mistake that for a bent part. If the clasp is not snaping closed, simply place your thumb on the side tha says Breitling and push with your fingers on the other side. It will shorten the length. Go easy but it is pretty strong steel there. It may take some tries but you will get it dialed in perfectly. If you go to far, repaet the same process from the opposite direction. This is a very commonly done among Breitlingsource members. IF, of course, this is your issue. Might not be. |
