Post subject:  How to remove superocean dive extension

I have a superocean with the dive extension on the bracelet. The little metal lip that keeps the extension closed and locked broke off (see red circled area of picture).

Is it possible to remove the dive extension or purchase just a new extension?

How is it removed?

Thanks!

It should (although I'm not 100% sure as never tried to remove one myself) be a case of pushing out the pin as you would with ordinary bracelet pins. That said, I think you'll have trouble finding just the extension for sale anyway. Breitling won't supply you with it, and I can't say I've ever seen one for sale.

You may have to send it back to Breitling to have them repair it, but at a cost obviously. One thing's for certain though - it'll be considerably less to repair than to buy a new bracelet.

I had trouble getting the pin out with a small hammer and a pin punch. Is it just a matter of muscling it out?

In a manner of speaking then yes it is a case of muscling it out, but if you're insistant on doing it yourself, it's definitely worth getting a link removal tool.

But as I say, I'm not sure of the benefit of removing it yourself anyway as you'll be highly unlikely to be able to find a replacement. Breitling don't sell spare parts like that to consumers. If I was you I'd get Breitling to fix it for you.

and if you did get it out your going to put a spring bar thru just the center link and connect to the clasp???? it might work for awhile but i dont see a springbar holding up with just the center link to support it, one snag on something that springbar is gonna pop and the watch is gonna be on the ground! :wowzers
