My avenger seawolf is losing 10 secs every 10 hours and i`m worried.
I`ve got a winder which i use through the night and use the watch through the day, but to no avail its still losing time. Is there anything out there I could do to help it, ie. rotate bezel, and how do you know when its fully charged??

Would a service help and what are the costs for this??

Is it a Chrono - if so do you keep it running?
How old is it? Maybe needs a service?
Has it started out with a full charge? - ie. 40 winds from run down.
Is it left unworn & run down for long periods.

Certainly doesn't sound right - how are you checking it - atomic clock on the web?

If non chrono, fairly new, fully charged to start with and definately loosing that amount of time it looks like it needs attention. If more than 2 or 3 yeards old it maybe just needs a service.

Check for service centres on the Breitling web site and have a chat with the one nearest you - quicker that way.

Maybe other members with AS will be able to help more.

My SA was doing something similar. I took it to my AD and they regulated it in about 5 or 10 mins. It has been soooo accurate since then. Don't worry just let your AD do their magic and get you back on time!

Thanks, the watch is not a chrono, but it is 3 years old. I`m in the highlands so not sure where my AD is.

I`m not sure how to wind the watch manually so if anyone could tell me how breitling say to do it, it would be much appreciated as I never got them as the watch was a present and they never turned up!!

How do you know when its fully charged?

Maybe thats where I have been going wrong?

Unscrew the crown and pull it in the first position (just one click). Give it 30-40 turns clockwise and your watch is fully wound. If you wear it daily, it will remain wounded. Don't worry, you can't over wind it and the power reserve for 17 cal is cca 42 hours if you don't wear it.

From fully run down the following will fully charge your movement.

I've quoted (slightly abreviated) from the manual for a Colt Superocen Pro which has the same 17 Caliber motor but as far as I know they all state the same.

"Preparing the watch for use.

Loosen the crown by unscrewing counterclockwise. To wind the watch rotate the crown in this position about 40 times."

So that's 40 full, 360 degree, turns. Don't forget to screw the crown back down!

This should give your about 42 hrs power reserve and may regulate it better. When you don't wear it for a while, or the odd day here and there, just give it a quick recharge with 10/20 turns.

As far as I know there is an overwind protection but you'll feel it start to tighten up when fully wound - just stop if this happens before 40 turns.

Or as chance97 says - he had a similar problem. If this doesn't work then at 3 years old it just may need a service. Your nearest maintenance centre(s) would probably be Glasgow & there's a choice of Mappin & Webb on 0141 221 7683 or Watches of Switzerland on 0141 248 7135. I think they can handle just about anything - just one or two models they can't do so you should be fine.

Cheers for all your help, doesn`t seemed to be tightening up though after 40 winds, do I just keep going till it does?

Would ernest jones be able to regulate the watch onsite?

No need to keep going 'till it tightens up - just incase it was part wound already and didn't need 40 turns.

Ernest Jones have a maint cantre in Edinburgh so that may be your best route - try the local shop where you are and if they can't do it they might send it to Edinburgh rather than to B UK.

If you've given it 40 turns see how it goes for a few days.

40 turns will be enough.

40 Turns did it for me also. When I dont wear the piece for a few days and it "dies" I just turn it about 40 times and its good to go with a hour reserve of about a day and a half sometimes two days... Good luck.

Thakns for all your help, though should I let the watch run down and then start from sctratch to get a better idea of whats happening?

What is involved if I get it regulated by a dealer?

I wouldn't worry too much about letting it run down although you could if you like - then start from scratch with the 40 turns. If not then, if partly wound just give it 20 or 30 turns which will give it a fairly good charge.

Don't know exactly what's involved in a watchmaker etc regulating the piece but they will have sophisticated equipment which will monitor the vibrations of the movement and allow them to time it - I think.
