I just got a preowned Montbrillant Datora from Global Watches Inc. in NYC. It came as a gift. I put it on last week and have worn it only for a few days. Last night I took it off and put it on the counter while I was busy doing some work around the house, later when I put it back on I noticed it had stopped ticking. No matter what I did, it wouldn't come back on. So I left it on the counter to deal with the next day. Before I went to bed, it started working again... worked all night, then the next day it stopped again for a few minutes, then restarted again.

What do you guys think? Looking at the dial and all the fake stuff online, I do believe its the real thing. I think I am going to just send it back to where I got it...

Well the obvious thing is to ensure that it is fully wound, but I assume from your comment that it didn't start running when you wound it.

That may be a simple matter of it being out of beat, but if it's preowned then it is probably an indication that the watch needs servicing.

Forgot to mention, after calling them, they have asked for me to bring it back and they will have it repaired... the question is should I let them deal with it or try to get my money back and walk away...

Unless they are a Breitling authorised repair centre (which they aren't) then I wouldn't let them anywhere near the watch to repair it.

Question. When you shake the watch... I can hear the winder mechanism moving around. But I hear more than just that sound. It also sound like something is loose, also the winder seems to come to a grinding halt rather easily. Its hard to explain, but doesn't seem "right" can anyone try to explain what it should sound/feel like when you shake it a bit...

Shaking it isn't the greatest idea in the world, but it will sound as though the rotor is spinning because it is. The watch only winds in one direction so it will spin freely in the opposite direction. Without hearing it it's tough to know whether yours sounds right or not.

its not like I am vigorously shaking the thing, just gently enough to hear the winder moving. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't rattle... I hear metal rattling around. Not Good.
