Post subject:  Service Question

Ok, say you buy a watch and you don't know if its ever been serviced. It's 6,7 or even 8 years old, but works fine. How much is a comprehensive 5 year service at AD?

Approximately, I have no idea is it $300 or $600, or even more?

The watch in question is a Navitimer Heritage. Claims he bought it a couple years ago, but doesn't have that receipt, from AD in NY and they said it was a 2005 model. I guess, as they all do, the AD told him they checked the watch out and it was operating fine. He was happy and started wearing it as part of a 4 watch collection.

Pictures look great; white face, bright white bezel and black sub-dials; stainless steel.

#A35340 on back. All input appreciated-

There are PDFs with current pricing on the Breitling website. Once you have selected your country / region you'll see a link to the pdf for local pricing.

Wow, that was fascinating. Is that done by the local AD or sent somewhere else entirely?

It's done by the service centre. AD's can only do basic work in most areas not full servicing.

How many people do you feel just wear a watch for 5-10 years without ever having service ? Any gut instincts?

Well service is only needed every 5 - 7 years so 5 years isn't necessarily a problem. I have met a lot of peopl who aren't necessarily 'watch people' who never realise that watches need servicing - they just take them to the store as 'broken' if the lose their power reserve or accuracy. It's also not that unusual to find 10 - 15 year watches for sale that have never been serviced.

I bought my ex a Rolex Datejust about 10 years ago and recently found out it hadn't been serviced. Mums the word. :nana:
