Alright I have been waiting months for my Skyland and it finally arrived today. I was adjusting the time around 8:30 pm and accidently advanced the day. I then moved the mintue hands backwards to move the date back to the correct date. I read later tonight that you shouldn't mess with the date between 8pm - 3 AM. Am I screwed? and If I am not what should I look for to make sure I did not damage the watch?

Many Thanks,

Well the adjustment at 8:30pm might not have done damage (on the start of the date cycle), but the backwards movement of the secondhand.... ouch. Time will tell if its damaged.

Am I to understand that you rotated the minute hand backwards 24 hours to "correct" the date?

You should have advanced the date 31 clicks until the date was correct.

The first thing you did - adjusting the date at 8.30pm - is probably okay. As a general rule for all watches with date, dealers recommend not to adjust the date from 10pm to 2am. Breitling probably went with some margin of safety and recommended 8pm to 3am on their manual.

As for your second action, am not so sure. Advise that you monitor the watch for a bit. The date change tolerance for the Breitling 17 movement is 5 minutes from midnight. That is to say the date should fully click over between 11.55pm to 12.05am. This would be within tolerance. Maybe you can use this as a reference for your Breitling 13 movement.

Hope your Ling is ok...

As of 11:30 last night I could see the new date at the top of the window and this morning all seems fine. I also spoke to an AD who said that it is not good to do what I did, but since it was a new watch and the first time I have ever did that it should be ok. The risk is if you constantly adjust the date after 10 PM.

Thanks again.

Well said Doc! :P

As much as I went through for this watch I would have been sick if I had messed it up.

Now I just need to know if the Skyland qualifies for one of those sweet clubs.

It qualifies for the Sweet Skyland Club. I'm in it!

Glad to hear everything seems good with your new watch. Enjoy it in good health.

Don't worry guys!

There is no risk whatsoever in going backwards with the hands to adjust the time, or date! Trust me!

It's so cute though...

My watch changes the date at 3am instead of 12am - any way to manually fix this without sending it in to an Authorized Dealer/Service Center?

Nope, you'll have to get it fixed.
