Greetings from Montreal!!!

I just got accepted into my MBA program so I decided to pull the trigger and get something nice as a reward...I really like nice watches...A. Lange & Sohne, IWC, Patek, etc. However, the latter are out of my price range and being 26 y/o I think they would not suit me nicely at this stage of my life.

A good friend suggested Breitling...I went and I tried some and I fell in LOVE...they are F*ckin awesome!!!!

So here is my delemma:

Should I go with a Superocean or a Colt Auto II??? Also I am more of a leather bracelet...what color combo do you guys suggest??? I was thinking black dial with brown bracelet or again, blue dial with brown???

As well, I did my research and there are a lot of replicas out there on the market...(scary, I know)...I am decided on getting a real 'Leing, but how do you guys cope with the fact that theres some many fakes out there???? Do you guys sometimes question that ppl might think yours is fake?

Thanks in advance and any thoughts would be greating appreciated!!!

Regards,

I'd say go for the Superocean as it's a little larger and technically more accomplished in terms of water resistance, etc. If you want a brown strap, then you'll probably be better off with the black dial as blue dials with brown straps are generally unloved - well they are on here anyway! (I ran a thread about blue dials with brown straps a little while back and the generally concensus was that it's a bad thing!)

In terms of whether people think it's a fake or not - I couldn't care less what others think. You need to buy a Breitling for you and you alone. At the end of the day your motivation for buying one should be that you want to own one for yourself, rather than what other people will think of you. Good luck with the purchase!

Agree with all - Superocean over Colt, in terms of straps it's going to depend on what colour face, but black is always a classic look.

Definitely buy the watch for yourself, not others. I have had non watch people say to me that my watch can't be that good because it isn't a Rolex - I don't care.

I actually like the Colt a bit better on leather compared to the Superocean, I think the black-dial/black strap looks really classy, but you really can't go wrong with either one.

That having been said, I have a little Superocean coral-dial beauty that I absolutely love on a bracelet.

Again, no matter what you pick, the memory of associating a fine watch with a fine personal accomplishment will last forever. You will love whatever watch you choose because of what it stands for.
