Post subject:  C.O.S.C. Standard Time Variation
Im sure this has been discussed before but i cant seem to find the info anywhere on here. Anyways, i was just wondering if someone could outline the basic C.O.S.C. standard. Mostly, i just wanna know how many seconds per day a watch can be off and still meet the standard. Mine seems to be running about 5-6 seconds per day fast. Also, is fixing this kind of thing just a basic adjustment or would i have to send it in to BUSA to get it back on the mark? Thanks for your help in advance.

COSC is -4 / +6 seconds per day.

If the watch is consistent with its error than it will be a simple regulation at an AD with a watchmaker.

Are the watchmakers at any Breitling AD authorized to do the adjustment or does it require a special certification before they can legaly open your watch? Dont wanna void any warranty but would rather not have to send my brand new watch away. The error is very consistent and right at +6 seconds per day.

Well a watchmaker who isn't allowed to open a watch wouldn't be much good :lol:

If a Breitling AD has a watchmaker then they have to have the equipment and training to do it. The only exception is the 01 movement which Breitling insists goes to a service centre.

I guess there was confusion here. I just didnt know if any watchmaker at a Breitling AD was automatically authorized to open a Breitling without voiding the manufacturer warranty. I figured there was some sort of difference between a wathcmaker at an authorized dealer and an authorized service tech. Of course I knew their watchmaker would have the general knowledge to open a watch. If they didnt, they couldnt be called a watchmaker right? Haha. :lol:

Anyways thanks for your help Roff. Ill take it in and have it adjusted. Hopefully this adjustment wont null the current COSC certification.

That's impossible. COSC certification just means that the movement (not the watch) passed the COSC tests when it was submitted for testing by Breitling.

Cool. Thanks for all the info. I'll get it done when I go in to pick up that missing spare link they just ordered for me. :lol:
