I have a few light scratches on the inner ring of my SO44 bezel. That ring is raised slightly more than the rubber and glass, so when I bump against something it's what is most likely to make contact. I noticed this morning I have two nicks in it now, the most pronounced at the third hash mark between "60" and what would be "5" (you can kind of make it out in the picture). Although it's not an issue for daily life for me - I wear this watch every day - I am curious if there would be some way in the future to fix it, or if it would get fixed up when I service the watch through Breitling at some point. ![]() |

Assuming it's not a frank gouge, it can be polished. The part that is nicked is the "chimney" and is a part of the case itself. But you can tape off the adjacent area of the bezel and crystal and polish with a Sunshine cloth or Cape cod. I've done that several times. If it's more than a scratch, I'd recommend a professional do it. Now that you've identified what part of the watch gets dinged, figure out what you are doing when it gets dinged. Then adjust and adapt. Welcome to fine watch ownership. ![]() |

It's not a deep gouge but more than a scratch - enough to catch your fingernail on going over it. Anyway, I wear it as a daily watch for everything I do - from work to the beach. I take it off for things like painting or working with tools but otherwise it's on my wrist. I know, for example, I'll bang into the door carrying my two girls out or packing up from the beach, so its life for me. Hopefully I can abuse it enough I survive every day wear but not too much so that it will look good when I get it back from servicing when I send it in to Breitling in a few years. Again, thanks for the explanation! |
