Hello folks

I'm looking to buy my first Breitling & a colleague that I have known for a couple of years has offered me a Windrider Chronomat for a good price. I'm no expert on Breitlings, AD in my area are few & far between. I'd welcome any input on the watch in question's legitimacy. I appreciate it's hard to tell from a few pictures but does anything really stand out as whiffy?

My colleague is a diver with a nice collection of watches including a pair of Rolex Subs. The Breitling has the original box & paperwork but not the original receipt. The strap was changed @ 2002 & the serial number would seem to confirm that (June 2001?).

My real areas of concern are the exposed threads on the winder, I'm told these should be hidden? & that on the underside of the clasp I can see (very faintly) the impression of the Breitling logo on the reverse.

Your time & help would be greatly appreciated.

regards

Mick

Looks spot on, about 7 years old. correct model number on watch and bracelet, winder just needs pushing in and turning. I would reckon about £1200-1500 would be ok for such a nice watch>

Bracelets don't have serials, just ref.no and the other number are week and the year (in this case it's 6th week of the 2001).

Thanks for the input gents.

Long story short on the price. The seller is a genuinely nice bloke who will give you the shirt off his back. Over the last couple of years I've looked after him, helped him get a permanent job with the company & given him the opportunities he was looking for.

He knows I turn 40 next month & that a Breitling was what I wanted for my birthday so he he just plonked the thing on my desk one morning with a note to the effect of "polish my car & £250 cash & it's yours"

Machine polishing of cars is a little sideline of mine, it's about 12 hours work & I charge @ £300 for it. In effect the watch has cost me just £550.

I reckon if I live to be 100 I'll not get a better deal.
