Post subject:  Pluton Button

Hello All,

I have a Pluton my parents bought for in (I think) 1984. It's been a great watch and I've worn it every day since then. Last week, the lower left button fell off -- this is the button that controls the function of the LCD display. It's the metal button itself that fell off -- I can still stick a pin into the hole and work the display, but that's not practical.

I took the watch to my local, trusted watch repair professional and he can't find a replacement button through all his contacts. In the past I've tried to get replacement bracelet links from Breitling and they were totally at a loss, saying they had not had any parts for that watch in years, so I'm not too hopeful in contacting them myself.

Can anyone suggest someone who could help me find a new button? I also was wondering if the missing button might compromise the integrity of the case and allow water in.

If I can't fix this watch, I guess I'll be shopping for a replacement... :(

Sorry to hear about your hassles. What a pain as it's obviously been a great watch if you've worn it everyday since 1984.

All I can suggest is trying Breitling yourself direct - you never know you may be lucky. Alternatively you could always have a look on eBay for an old Pluton that you may be able to plunder for spares. Occasionally you will see older broken watches for sale on a parts basis.

If you manage to get hold of a proper Pluton push-piece and get it fitted at Breitling repair centre, then the integrity of the case should not be compromised at all.

Good luck with your hunt. Hope you get lucky.

Any AD can order that pushe from Breitling for You, or send the watch there for repair.
