Post subject:  Stolen Box - authenticity papers gone?

Hello guys,

Always lurked but never joined until now as I haven't had any issues. I have Breitling for Bentley watch. I made a stupid mistake and left the box in my car parked outside my residence. I awoke and started heading to work at 6AM to see my window broken and I guess some thief thought he was about to score a sweet watch but of course I wasn't foolish enough to have the watch in there thank goodness.

Anyways he took off with my box and I guess the authenticity papers as well just leaving me with the watch alone. I would like my authenticity papers back as well as the box as if I ever wanted to sell it in the future it would be very difficult as I know there are many fake lings out there.

Is there anyway I can get new authenticity papers, perhaps sending it in somewhere and they could confirm its real and give me the papers? I was also just thinking about sending it in for the full overhaul service as I've had it for a few years and the metal is showing some swirlys and and wear.

If it is not possible to get the authenticity papers do you think perhaps getting it appraised would be good proof it is in fact a real ling if I ever choose to sell it down the road?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks. :lingsrock:

:welcome: and sorry to hear your car got broken into.

You can buy a new box and COSC from Breitling and I think you can also buy the manual.

AFAIK, you cannot obtain a replacement warranty book but a basic service would get you official paperwork from Breitling to prove authenticity.

If you are in the US and purchased new from a Breitling AD, BUSA will issue a new warranty book as well.

Thanks for replies,

To clarify, when people say they are selling a watch with the box and papers do they mean the box and the COSC? Or is the papers something different from COSC?

If someone says "box and papers" it means (and assuming it's complete), the inner and outer boxes, the COSC paper, the manual, and the warranty card. These are standard for any modern Breitling but some models may have some additional paperwork specific to the watch - i.e. the slide rule card if it's a Navi, the numbered LE card if it's a Limited Edition, etc.

Here's an example of full box/papers.

I'm going to try calling BUK tomorrow, I heard someone say they don't sell boxes anymore because some loser was buying and selling them on ebay and perhaps even worse posing fake breitlings in real boxes.

I will give them a ring tomorrow. As for the AD I don't really know as the watch was gifted to me from my uncle after I borrowed it for a really long time as he knew I liked it. .
