I have a current model Datora and would like to know if I will cause any problems if I leave the stopwatch running continuously?

I would like to do this because I'm used to the centre seconds hand moving and its odd to me to see it always at the 12 o'clock position.

Will this cause undue wear on the watch movement, feable mindedness on the part of the wearer, or other unexpected negative results?

Apparently it can cause feable mindedness in the wearer, and may also cause the Earth to stop spinning on it's axis, which is not a good thing.

But as far as the watch goes it's absolutely fine!

There are two schools of thought on this - firstly that running the chronograph will cause slightly more wear than if it's stopped (which is true), while the second school of thought says that running it actually frees up the movement more and keeps all the oils nicely distributed throughout the movement (which is also true!).

Personally I run the chronograph for at least 24 hours once a month to keep the oils distributed, but that's it as I don't mind the second hand being at 12. At the end of the day these watches are made to be used and any wear can be fixed at a service, so do whatever you feel comfortable with.

Great question.

I run mine quiet often on my chronographs because I like the sweeping motion....I love looking at it while the piece is in full operation. I usually only run it throughout my day, and stope the chronograph features when it's time to set it on the winder.
