Post subject:  Silly Question from a Newbie

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 2007 Chrono Cockpit and I love it!!!!

I keep it in it's box and wear it only very rarely on very special occasions.

My question, I believe that it's got the B13 Automatic Mechanical movement??
Does it have a battery??? or do i have to wind it regularly??? If so how often??? Or does this mean that I have to get a watch winder for it, for those periods when I don't wear it?? does it matter if I just let it stop and set it and wind it prior to wearing it???

Any advise please

It doesn't have a battery.

The power comes from winding the crown (40 times in the first position after unscrewing it) or from wearing it in which case your arm motion will help to keep it wound. A full power reserve is 42 hours.

You can put it on a winder to keep it running, or you can wind it manually each day (30 turns of the crown). There is no issue with letting it run down and stop, although I would run it for at least 24 hours with the chrono running once a month if it's not been worn.

If you do set it when you wear it just be careful not to use the quick set date between 8pm and 3am as you can easily damage the movement.

Hi, I've just bought a watch too, a Superocean Steelfish. This is just my opinion, but its a real shame not to wear such a lovely watch that you've paid a lot for! I added mine to my household insurance to cover new for old, loss, damage, theft etc and it cost an extra £2 a month. I now wear it every day all day (unless I'm doing DIY or gardening of course). Just an idea!

Thanks for the replies guys.

Prof - many thanks, great help

Martin - many thanks also, i saw your similar post - much more concise and useful than mine!!!! As for wearing it all the time, it's got the diamond bezel and is a little bling, so I really only wear it when going out, my everyday watch is an Airwolf which I love just as much!!!!

Cheers

A

Insurance wise make sure that you are covered away from the house (£2 seems very low)
