The hour totalizer on my Chrono Superocean runs ahead in relation to the actual elapsed time, and gets further ahead the more the time has elapsed. For instance, at 30 minutes, it reads just slightly ahead of the 30 minute mark. By two hours, it's actually closer to 2.5 hours. And by four hours, it's practially at 4.5 hours. If I'm not paying close attention, it gets to the point where I don't know how much time has actually elapsed, which rather defeats the purpose of a chronograph. The watch is still under warranty. How big a fix am I looking at?

If it matters at all, the watch has done this as long as I've owned it (since January); it's nothing new.

Yeah, it's annoying, partly because I know there's something wrong with my watch, but also because I do actually use the chronograph, and find myself having to guess at how much time has actually elapsed. Not good.

Roff, do the pictures give you any more insight as to what might be going on? I understand what you're saying about it theoretically not being physically possible for the hour totalizer not to be in synch with the rest of the watch, but I don't think it's just my imagination. Closer inspection reveals that the hour totalizer is slightly ahead of zero when reset, so it's "fast" from the get go; but it does appear to get further and further ahead as the chronograph runs.

When sending it in for repair, would a written description of the problem suffice, or should I send pictures? I'm a little concerned about running into skepticism.
