Why is it when the 360 degree cardinal (where a 12 o'clock rider tab would be) on the outer bezel is set to the correct representation of north, does the movable inner bezel not display the number 60 directly in line with the MPH marker? I have seen press and google photos with this same thing. While rotating the bezel I have concluded that the outer bezel rotates at a ratio of 1 to 1.16 of the inner rotating bezel and it takes 65 rotations (ccw or cw) of the outer bezel to completely bring the marks back to their origional starting point of 61. The rotating bezels on my Chrono and Seawolf both alighn the 12 o'clock rider tab with the 60 or "N" respectively at the 12 o'clock position. Is this an alighnment problem from Breitling? This is driving me NUTS!

As with any circular slide rule it is the mathematical ratio between the wheels required to calcualte STD problems along with simple math. Your outside bezel with riders is fixed to the 60 minutes in an hour. Your inside wheels are adjusted in order to complete the functions of multiplying, dividing and conversion of mph/kmph etc. I believe the Navitimers do not have riders because they are a higher order circular slide rule.

Everytime I try and do flight calcs on my wrist I get to much grief from my cheapskate (read marrid with kids) Sqn mates. I usually default to my E6B. Easier as I get older as well.

Hopefully that makes sense and is accurate?

It can be aligned, after numerous turns.

It's down to the gearing. Some guy did a chart on WUS of how many turns you'll need.

Thanks Sharkmouth. When I noticed the alignment problem I wrote down on a scratch paper each number as the "triangle" at the 12 o'clock position returned to the top and it took 65 full rotations (65 CW and 130 CCW). I didn't know about this chart. This is why I joined breitlingsource.com. Cool chart, thanks for the link. I will have to play with it some more. Thanks again.
