Hi. I'm new to the forum having just received a superocean (abyss black) with the steel bracelet. I want to purchase either a rubber or leather strap to switch back and forth and am somewhat confused on the manner in which the size is listed. I know the superocean requires a 20mm wide band, but when looking at some of the Internet listings, they all seem to list 2 numbers such as 22-20mm.
Can anyone explain this? Also, deployment clasp or tang, what is the consensus?

Thanks for any information.

Hi

22-20mm (also listed as 22/20mm), means that the strap is 22mm at the lugs, and 20mm at the buckle.

Deployment/deployant is a clasp that sits permanent attached to both pieces of the strap - just as with a bracelet. Tang buckle is a regular buckle. Breitling makes some of the very best straps, clasp and buckles. And even though the price will seem high compared to after market versions - it is well worth to buy original :lingsrock:

Hope that helps :D

The consensus is for the deployment clasp which has only advantages over the tang type:

more comfortable wear, more versatility, more adjustment possibilities, more safety, etc. A deployment also prevents the watch to follow mother nature's law of gravity and slide over your wrist.

Only disadvantage is its somewhat much higher cost which is eventually offset in time with the much longer life of the strap.
