hello all! i've recently purchased a SA with the steel professional bracelet, along with a diver pro II with deployment buckle to swap around from time to time. my question is... does the spring that comes with the steel bracelet, OK to use with the diver pro II band ?!? i'm waiting for the bergeron 6767f to come in also. thanks in advance! |

The springbar used for the bracelet is slightly thinner than the springbar used for the leather straps. I don't know for sure, but I'd think the ideal rubber strap springbar would be the same as the leather strap springbar rather than the bracelet springbar. You can still use the bracelet springbar, but it could (at least theoretically) shorten the lifetime of your strap. A thinner springbar will act more as an edge than a cylinder and could over time cut through your strap more than a bigger springbar would. However, rubber is much more durable than the leather so I could hardly believe there's a major impact. Your AD should be able to provide you with springbars for free (or at a very low cost) if you want to make sure. As a side note, I have used the bracelet springbars on one of my OR straps for more than three years now without any problems at all, and if I remove the strap there is no deformation at all of the springbar hole. |

It’s my understanding that all bracelet's springbars have pointed ends, and strap springbars have flat / slightly rounded ends. If you are changing frequently, using a springbar from a bracelet will tend to cause more damage. It’s very difficult to avoid dragging it over part of the lug when your removing it, refitting it. To avoid this I’ve changed all mine for flat ended springbars of the correct diameter (and kept the originals obviously). I can say with confidence this change will cause a lot less damage, and no, I’ve never had any issues with security of the strap/bracelet. |
