Post subject:  My Date has stopped working Breitling Suoer Avernger

I was just wondering if anyone new what can be possible wrong with my Date. I can change the date manually in the second position but if I change the time manually after midnight the date doesn't change. If the time is set and the date is set correctly it still will not change when the time passes midnight. Any clues or answers would be greatly appreciated, plus is this covered under warranty? and if not what is the aprox. cost to fix. Thanks.

regards,

harls

99% of the time this is caused by using the quick set date during the danger zone of 8pm - 3am resulting in a broken or bent tooth in the date wheel.

Technically that wouldn't be covered under warranty because it requires owner error to do it, but if you don't tell them that you did it then they likely won't force the issue. The cost of the fix would be relatively low because it's just parts replacement, but there would need to be a basic service at the same time so if you had to pay it would likely be close to $300.

That's a serious problem with people who don't read the manual before using the watch (like me  )
With my first Breitling, I did the same thing, trying to change the date between 9pm and 3am a couple of times.
Luckily I didn't break the watch.

thanks for the info, I did read the manual and to my knowledge never changed the dates between the danger zone, but may have by accident. I will take it to a Breitling Service center and go from there... thanks again.

I personally think that the sale staff should tell the purchased this information. As of yet I Have never yet had a warning about this from a dealer at the point of sale.

When I got my B01 my AD spent at least 45' to explain it to me in real detail. Then he made me use all the functions myself, just to make sure that I was aware of all the features of my watch.

He also advised me that, even if the 01 caliber was the exception to the 3-8 rule, I should avoid, if possible, to make a quick-change of the date in that time frame. That was his humble watchmaker's opinion.

Ah, and I forgot, he took off the plastic bezel protector in front of me.

The best way in my opinion, to be on the safe side is to always set the time to 6'O'Clock and THEN do any date changes. It wouldnt matter if it's 6am or 6pm.
You will be in the safety zone for doing a date change without damaging the movement.

Me too. Saves any possible cock-ups.
