Hey everyone, My name is Andy and I have been following this website for all the cool advises prior to my purchasing of my Breitling Bentley GT Racing. I love the watch but since I have 2 others watches and don't have a watch winder, I put it on may be once ever two weeks. I have the watch for almost 2 months now and this morning I just made a mistake that I am so bumped out. I took it out of the box and the day and date shown Tue the 14th. I forgot about the 8PM-3AM danger zone and didn't pay attention to the dead time. I gave the watch good 20x wind and start quick setting the day and date. Soon i felt a resistance when trying to change the DATE and then it stop moving, I didn't turn the crown anymore and pulled the crown out to position 3 to turn the time, then I put it back to finish setting the date, this time the date number jumps but didn't turn over. I thought I broke it and called my dealer right away. He told me to give the watch full 48 hours turn of the time and try again. It works but now the day turn over at 12:15am but the date doesn't turn over until 10:00am.... ![]() Any suggestion to bring the gap closer between and day and date turn over point? I don't think i broke any tooth of the gears because the date and day snap over instantly when it come to the turning point. Please help!!! thanks guys.... |

I'm confused - when you forward the time do the date and day change at the same time Quote: I don't think i broke any tooth of the gears because the date and day snap over instantly when it come to the turning point or does one change at 12:30 and the other 10AM Quote: It works but now the day turn over at 12:15am but the date doesn't turn over until 10:00am

Quote: I don't think i broke any tooth of the gears because the date and day snap over instantly when it come to the turning point I think he meant they turn instantly at their respective turning points of 12:15am and 10:00am, not that they both turn at the same time. The pros will tell you what you need to know. I'd offer my take on it, but there's at least a 50% chance I'll be wrong, and I've already reached my wrongness quota for the week. I'm not allowed to be wrong again until at least Sunday. |

The 12:15am for the date doesn'ty sound too bad, but the 10:00am is too far out. It sounds like you certainly may have damaged the quick change date mechanism (unless it was actually like that from the start). Either way it's going to be a trip to Breitling to sort it out as it's not a user-fixable problem. |

With any luck all that you have done is 'skipped' a tooth on the date wheel, but there is probably a bent tooth. They will know what you have done, but they don't usually make a big deal of it unless you admit to the mistake. Definitely needs to be dealt with by Breitling though. |

Thank you guys for all your help. I will contact the nearest AD immediately. I think Rof is right, the date snap over but it takes the watch like 45 mins to get to the point where the number snaps in. Rookies mistake as you can say. I am glad to be a member of this community for sure. Thanks all ![]() |

So this is my watch http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... MEWNX%3AIT I bought it with all the boxes and papers. The warranty book has the matching serial number with my watch. However it's "open dated" and doesn't have the name of an AD filled in. When I talked to an AD near by, they said that Breitling won't serive my watch and they might "keep it"?? if I send it in. Any suggestion of how to get the watch fixed besides taking it to a private watch maker? Thanks guys |

It sounds as though it may have been a grey market watch, but that's not your problem. Be nice with them but ask them to investigate when the watch was shipped to a distributor, when it went to an AD, etc. That way they can establish with a fair degree of certainty when the watch was sold and therefore whether it is still under warranty. Also, have the AD check the manufacture date between the 6 o'clock lugs, if it's less than 2 years ago then the watch must be under warranty. |

![]() Also, they can't keep your watch. You paid for it, and it's your property. Keeping it would be theft, which, you know, is illegal and stuff. |
