Hi all,
I am in need of some help. Yesterday I noticed that the chrono dials were not moving on my SA. I tried to reset and that brought the hands back but now when I press the top button nothing is happening, basically the chrono functions are not working.

The watch is still keeping excellent time, date function is working properly and seconds hand (9 o'clock) is moving just fine. Watch was purchased in 2004 and has not serviced since the initial purchase.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, just want to get some advice before contacting BUSA.

Thanks!

Is there any resistance at all on the bottom pusher? If so, then push that all the way in and make sure that the mechanism has fully reset (though that problem is unlikely). Make sure that you are pushing the top pusher hard enough - there is quite a lot of resistance to overcome. If it's definitely not running then it will need to go to Breitling for investigation.

Roff,
Thanks for replying. I did try pushing again as hard as I could but no use. Seems like I need to send it to Breitling.

Couple of questions, is there any benefit to take the watch to an authorized dealer or should I just send it directly to Breitling?

Any idea as to how much it will cost?

You can send direct to Breitling, that's what I would do - they are only in CT. Cost will depend on what's wrong, but the watch needs a service anyway so factor $450 - $500 for a full service and the fix shouldn't cost much more.

I'd send it directly to Breitling.

If you are under warrenty (2 years from date of purchase or 1 year after previous work from Breitling) then it should be free. If you're out of warrently the cost will be dependant on the work required. For reference though, a full chrono service runs about 450 USD.

EDIT: Just read in the OP the watch is from '04. Ignore my "warrenty" comments

Ok guys, thanks for the help. I will be sending it to Breitling once I get home this week. Will keep you posted and how it goes.

Here is an update. I sent the watch to the service center about a week ago. I got the estimate today:

1. Hands Ruthenium, $77
2. Complete service, $490

The grand total with shipping will be $592.00 and the expected return will be in about 8 weeks. Now can any of you gents please tell me if the service center also polishes the watch while doing the service or is there an extra charge for that?

Normally polishing is included with a full service.

Correct - the $490 service includes a case restoration.

Got my watch back earlier this week. Bill came out to be $600, watch is looking brand new and keeping excellent time.

Thank you for all the help and advice.
