Hi guys. I'm brand new on the forum. I just have bought my first Breitling. I have purchased the stainless steal seawolf on the pro 2 bracelet. I just love the watch. The anti reflective coating is amazing. I have always washed my watches just with dish soap and they have come super clean and shiny. My question is, i have heard different things about some soaps removing the outer coating of the a/r. Is there something that works the best to keep the a/r looking great, or is it me just worrying too much. Any information would be great!

Hi Korky. It's great to have you here. You'll want to steer clear of the soaps that contain harsh abrasives. Lava, GoJo, Goop and the like contain pumice as an abrasive to help clean hands as do most industrial hand cleaners. You will just want a soft liquid soap to remove dirt and oils from your watch. Tons of them out there and actually they are a lot easier to find than the ones that do contain abrasives.

I haven't found it necessary to use soap on the crystal. Just hot tap water on a micro fiber cloth, a good wipe, followed by rubbing dry with a clean micro fiber. HINT - It is important that polishing clothes never are put in automatic dryers, especially if dryer fabric softeners are used. It reduces the absorption ability of the cloth and actually reduces the softness of the cloth. It can cause scratches on eyeglasses - don't know about A/R, but don't care to gamble.

I use good old sunlight liquid dish soap and a soft toothbrush on the crystal, case and bracelet, of my steelfish, works like a charm.

Standard advice every time this question comes up is diluted dish soap or diluted simple green with a soft toothbrush for hard to reach places - cloth will be fine on flat areas like the crystal.

I always use microfibre cloths as well to minimise risk of scratching.

I do the same. Microfibre cloths for the win. Nothing else touches my crystal!

I've always used eyeglasses or silverware cloths and they have worked fine for me.

As long as you don't let the situation get out of hand and you do that regularly, right Brian? :wink:

Thank you for the info. I will continue to use regular diluted dish soap. Sounds like this will not cause any damage.

Ask you optician for a spray to clean your specs they sell good quality sprays and cloths....!! 8)
