Hi everybody,


I'm new on the forum. Since I bought my first second hand Breitling some weeks ago, I logged on to this forum almost everyday.
This is a really awesome forum, I learnt a lot about these beautiful watches and I've become a real Breitling fan since a few weeks.
I bought a colt II automatic from 2006. Ofcourse there are some scratches on it and i'm waiting for some cape cod polish cloths that i bought on the internet to let my watch shine like new again!
However, i'm not used to polish watches and I know that I have to take care of the dial and the bezel, not to get polished too..
therefor, I would like to protect it. I already saw some pictures of dials covered with some tape, but I don't know how to put it on the dial and what i can use to uncover only the fine edge along the saffire glass and not to touch the brushed bezel when polishing.
I'm sorry if it is already mentioned on this forum, but i didn't find it yet..

Masking tape (painter's tape) works best, you just have to cut small pieces and apply them to the crystal and the bezel until you have them all covered up, it takes about 5 times as long to apply the tape then it does to actaully polish the chimney (that's what the thin piece of metal between the crystal and bezel is called).

Make sure you do not polish the crystal with the cape cod's, it will remove the anti-reflective (AR) coating and it will look like crap!

When you are done polishing just peel the tape off. I have found that it you are careful and use your finger tip you can get away with polishing the chimney without taping the bezel, you just have to be careful.
