I am trying to find out information on my watch. This watch says Breitling Chronographe 100 m. The number on the back is K 13050.1 2163. Photos can be found at http://picasaweb.google.com/105298406323488280693/BreitlingWatch# I counted 144 diamonds, 44 around the face and 50 on each side of the band. Any information would be helpful, as it's history is a bit of a mystery and I don't even know what year it was made in. Does anyone know if this watch was ever released with diamonds, or were these set in by someone else? Does anyone know how much I should insure it for, or can anyone tell me who to contact for an appraisal as no one where I live seems to be able to agree on it's value. I found this link to a watch with the same serial number but no diamonds, and that's as much as I've been able to find out. http://www.grayandsons.com/product/16184/15# Thank you for your help - I really appreciate it! |

The diamonds are aftermarket so can't help there - you'll need someone who can appraise diamonds to comment. There are some comparables to the watch here - http://www.chrono24.com/en/search/index ... ORTORDER=1 Those are on strap and the bracelet will add value, though generally not by much more than the gold content at this age. |

Can't help with the value but I would say the watch dates to around 1995-97. |

Thank you both, any information helps. I guess I can understand why I'm having trouble getting it appraised. The person I got it from thinks it's worth $43,500 and that seems way out there to me. If the diamonds are about .04ct each (that's a bit of a guess) then at the most with setting that might add 9 or 10 grand? That's still only $20,000 or so, and I'm not sure if having diamonds added in aftermarket would devalue it in any way. I don't have the original box or paperwork either. So here is another way of finding a value for it - if you wanted to but this watch what would you be willing to pay for it, or what would you think a reasonable price would be? (Theoretically) Is it enhanced by the diamonds, or do they make it less desireable? |

I guess that technically the diamonds add to the value, but they decrease the potential market significantly - the majority of people (on here at least) find that ugly and ostentatious. |
