Hello:

I bought my Emergency in October 2002. I have found that it sits in the case more often than I wear it. I have thought about selling it in the past; however, I have always hesitated since the watch is registered to me. When I bought it back in 2002, it seems like I had the fear of god instilled upon me about the watch being registered to me and with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Now that I am looking to sell it, how can I have it registered to a new owner so that I release my liability should the new owner "accidentally" activate the distress transmitter?

Also, what's a fair price for my watch that has been worn only a handful of times and had its most recent service in February 2010?

I'm not sure about prices, but a quick search in the 'for sale' section may help and I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable will follow up.

When I bought mine, the seller contacted BUK and they sent me a liability/new owner form to fill in with my details. Once I'd paid for and received the watch I confirmed the transaction and they sent a letter confirming it all.

Those are generally dealer asking prices, actual sale price will be lower.

As The Black Baron says, the sale / purchase needs to be registered with Breitling who then make sure that they buyer completes the relevant paperwork.

The emergency transmitter is only a homing signal. It does not (nor is there a way) identify who is sending the signal. The FAA has no way to associate you with the signal. 125 MHz beacons are notorious for sending out false alarms. THe newer 406 MHz transmitters are actually registered to a user and, as part of the signal, send the identifying information so the rescuers can notify the point of contact person. Good luck selling it!
