Someone asked me how old my Transocean is and I have no idea.

Is there a serial number somewhere that I can use to get an approximate date?

Thanks guys!!

Mark

I'd ask the same question in the Vintage section to get the best answer.

If it's not on the outside, it's on the inside of the case back.

Not sure that it's a vintage Transocean though.

Up until 1978 the serial number can be used to date the watch. After around 2001 - 2003 (model dependent) you can date your watch using a date code between the 6 o'clock lugs - the left hand set of numbers there is week and year of manufacture - i.e. 1507 is week 15 of 2007 or mid April.

After 1978 and before 2001 there is no way of dating accurately.

Thank you guys for the input...

This model, A53340, was produced between 1997--2001 according to BS. There should not be a date code between the lugs then right?

Maybe.

It's a later one as it's COSC certified, so may have a date code. It's 2000 or 2001 for sure.
