Whether you can get a COSC certificate for it will be entirely dependent on how old the watch is. Chronometer certification across the entire range only came in a few years ago. An easy way to tell is to look at the model number on the caseback - it should be a letter followed by 5 numbers - eg. A13024. If the middle number (in this case "0") is a "0" then the watch was not Chronometer rated so a replacement COSC cert will not be available. If that number is a "3", then the watch was Chronometer rated so a replacement COSC cert will be available at a cost of around $50 (£30).

However if your watch doesn't have a model number like that, then it's probably too old to have one, and as a result it definitely won't be COSC rated.

In terms of proof of purchase, then you will probably be out of luck, so your best bet would be to send the watch to Breitling and have then authenticate it for you. This is usually free of charge.

Might also be worth posting up a quick picture on here as well.

Hi guys, I have recently inherited a Breitling watch from my Grandfather's passing and am looking to sell - I know this sounds vaguely cold-hearted but it was always the agreed intention that when he eventually passed I would sell the watch on and keep the money as my inheritance (I'm not exactly a watch buff!). However I do have a problem, I was only handed the watch - No proof of purchase, no COSC form and not even so much as a case! I also have no idea whether the watch was registered with Breitling so how would I be able to find that out? I am also assuming I will need certain documents to be able to sell the watch for a good price? Please can someone help me with this dilemma as I am looking to do what is required so I can sell the watch in time for a nice summer/autumn break with my fiance! Many thanks, William Taylor

To get a COSC certificate (assuming that the watch ever had one (4th character of the model number is a 3 if it did) then you will need to take the watch to a dealer and have them verify the watch. They can then order a replacement COSC certificate for around $50. They can also sell you a box set and instruction manual, or you may be able to find those on eBay. You can't replace the warranty book. In terms of proof of purchase, you would have to contact the AD who first sold the watch and see if they can help.
