I've just learned that after lots of warranty issues Omega has developed a better version of the hours counter mechanism (at 6 o'clock, under the dial) that solves every problem in connection with the hours counter - not only the hand alignment problem. I've also learned that this alternative solution is interchangeable with "normal" 7750-s. I know that ETA developed a 2.0 version of this part of the 7750 to solve only the hand alignment problem in December 2001 (ETA Information Nr. 44.).
Questions:
1. Are there infos about IWC and Breitling (heavy users of the highest grade 7750-s) if they've also developed such modifications like Omega?
2. If yes, since what time do they use the modifications? (According to Pius Brida IWC began to use the ETA modifications - only for hand alignment problem - in January 2002. I have no info on Breitling.)
3. If yes, which manufacturer's modification is the best (among Omega, IWC and Breitling)?
Reason for these questions: I have now 2 IWC-s, 4 Breitlings and a Sinn with 7750-s (from between 1994 and 2006) and plan to buy more. I already had the typical hours counter problem (unable to stop the hand) once. I have to decide if these watches undergo regular maintenance to replace these parts with the Omega (or IWC or Breitling) modifications. In this case it is practical to order 6-8 pieces from Omega (if theirs proves to be the best) and use them one by one on these maintenace occasions.
Every input is welcome! I post this questions on several fora so you might read it more than once.
Best, Robert
