I sent my aerospace out to Breitling USA to get repaired because the middle of my hour hand has disenegrated. I have lots more to say but I just found your website at 1:30 in the morning and I need to go to bed, but for now I will copy what I have so far. Much more has happened after this. Thank you. I need all the help I can get. Seriously. I now have 90% fo my watch back. It is the right watch but the dial is black instead of blue. Please help me out.

I was wondering if you could please help me. If I had known about you beforehand trust me I would have asked for your service ahead of time. I own a Breitling Aerospace watch. The luminescent started to come off the watch and I could actually see all the way through the hour hand. I went onto Breitling’s website and I sent it to :

Breitling USA, Inc.
Hangar 7
206 Danbury Road
Wilton, CT 06897

They told me that my dial was original a black background and it wasn’t blue and that the sun had faded it. I thought that was weird but I told them I liked the blue better anyways as that is the color it was since I have owned it the last 9 years. Long story short when they mailed me the watch back. It wasn’t my watch. Mine had a blue dial in it, and this one was gray, and mine had zero gold on the bezel and this one had gold on the 4- 15 minute marks. Also the hands were different. I contacted them and they were not at all surprised and they told me that they sent me the wrong watch and to send it back and they will overnight me mine. Well right before I was going to send back my watch I called to make sure everything was ok and that I wanted to make sure I didn’t get a black dial watch in return. The first lady said it is showing as a black dial and that’s what I am going to get. I found the watch made in the exact blue my watch was. I don’t think that the black could fade into the exact same color my watch was for 9 years. The manager then told me that I still have my watch as far as the serial number they just sent it with the wrong insides and such. That the watch maker had messed up when putting it together. First of all I am shocked and extremely disappointed that my Breitling needs this much work. I sent it in to a authorized dealer about 2 years ago because it had moisture in it. And now these guys are giving me the run around . I have no idea what watch I am going to get next. Can you please let me know what you think of this. Thank you for your time.

There have been a few stories about dials changing colour, it's difficult to say whether that has happened here. If you are not the first owner then it's possible that whoever owned it before you had the dial changed unofficially and then Breitling will absolutely insist on restoring the original dial colour. They can change the dial for you to a different colour, but it's expensive and you are usually better off selling and then buying a different watch.

In terms of the hands, they are designed to be single use and generally the latest style of hand is used, though Breitling will generally be prepared to work with you on that.

I'm unclear as to what the situation is on the worng watch being sent, can you clarify that? It sounds very odd that they would send you the right case with a different dial and movement.

They put my back on a different watch and and sent it to me the first time. So I had a completly different person't watch but had my back cover. As far as the "discoloration". It was an option to get fixed for $160. I said no thanks as I liked the blue that my dial was and that I don't want it black. Now they claim I have mine back and the dial is black. Well obviously its not mine as mine was blue.

Yeah, I checked my logbook no 813CA, but have flown 812CA & 814CA a number of times back in the good ol' days. Now it's not so great there anymore. Small world.

Good luck with everything.
