I've only checked the time for accuracy the past two days. The watch is only a week old, but appears to be running fast +8 seconds a day. This is just outside the COSC limits. I wear the watch around 15 hours a day and do not have a watch winder. Should I be concerned or will this slow down after the intial break in period? Thanks in advance.

I should also note that this is my first automatic watch.

As it's new I'd personally be inclined to leave it a few weeks (maybe up to a month) to give it a decent running in period. If it's still +7 second (or more) after that period then a trip to your AD may be in order.

Obviously if it gets worse in the meantime then a trip to your AD may be required sooner.

Mine was close to that fast in the first week, and then settled in to about 3 seconds a day after a month or so. I would definitely wait. I also measure over a longer period of time rather than just one 24-hour window, since temperature and use can be driving factors.

How often, if at all, do you manually wind your steelfish?

Sorry, that was a bit confusing. I don't have a Steelfish. I have a Timex.

I have a SuperOcean (not a Steelfish), and as it is currently my only Breitling, I do not manually wind it regularly because it stays on my wrist. I left it at home for a snowboarding trip, and it stopped once, but that was it. That was three weeks ago, and it hasn't been manually wound since.

yeah.. its a bit too early to tell. If its still doing this after a month or 2 then you might want to take it back to the dealer to have it regulated.

I'll give it at least a month. Seems to be running faster when I do not have the watch on my wrist. I checked it last night before I took it off and after 13.5 hours it was +3 seconds. This morning at 24 hours it was back to +8 seconds.

My Steelfish (wear it everyday 7am to 11pm, mon-fri) has been running +3 to +8 since I started checking it a few days ago. I have only had it for a few weeks. I guess from reading here that there is a "break in" period????

My plan, now, is to wear it for a month (after I set the watch to the online atomic clock) and see where it is after 30 days. I would think this would give it plenty of time for the break in and enough time to average out the daily loss or gain.

I might get affected by the position you lay your watch in at night when you take it off...
Try laying it opposite of when it was gaining time, it is possible it will loose a little bit that way, to even it out overall. You know what I mean?

Well the Steelfish seems to be settling in nicely. It has been running at +4/5 per day the last week and a half. I found that it gained the least amount of time when I stored it on it's side (crown side down). Thanks for all the helpful suggestions Vanessa.
