Hello,
I'm new the forum and new to the whole breitling scene. Recently acquired a new Chrono Superocean and was playing around with it to learn my new watch. Now what's concerning is that I did not know about the time adjusting/date changing during the "danger zone". What's annoying is that I'm not sure if I did any damage to it. I remember trying to change the date/day of the week couple times, but it would not adjust. Instead it was clicking but it would not change. So I played around with it back and forth and somehow it worked (now that I think about it...I guess I was out of the "danger zone" . I don't see any problem currently and it seems like everything is fine.

Question:
Does the watch have some sort of mechanism to prevent date/day of the week (in the case of CSO) during the danger zone?

I notice that the date and the day of the week doesn't change at the same time. In my case, date changes 1 min. before midnight, and day of the week changed after 7 minutes. Is this normal?

The day and date don't change at the same time on my Chrono Superocean.

The mechanism for preventing changing the date between 8pm and 3am is the instruction manual :!:

There is no mechanism in the watch to prevent it. The clicking that you describe sounds odd, but that may simply be that you were turning the crown the wrong way - if the date and day change consistently and are centred then you should be OK. It's normal to have a slight time gap between the day and date changing, it's to 'manage' the amount of energy needed for the changes.

Thats little odd...i tried turning the crown both direction but failed to change either ones. it was turning half way through but then it was hesitating to change all the way. it felt like the gears were not engaging together. Funny, i thought it was some kind of internal mechanism that prevents this mistake during that forbidden time....since now i dont have any problem changing it manually.

What you were feeling was the resistance caused by the date change mechanism being partially engaged with the running train. That engagement is the reason why you shouldn't use the quick set date then - you were lucky that the resistance stopped you before you broke teeth off the wheel.

I've known not to do changes during the danger period, but finally knowing what the damage could be makes it a bit more real. I shutter to think what additional damage could be done by broken teeth finding their way into places they shouldn't be.
