Hi, can anyone help me, I am new to the forum so patience please!
I have inherited a Breitling watch model A 51035, which appears to be the Intruder model.
Alfa Romeo is printed just above the digital display.
I recently had a new battery fitted as I wished to sell the watch and was told that the movement looked to be early 1980s. The problem is that the Intruder was only made in the late 1990s and my husband originally inherited this prior to this date, probably early 1990s.
The watch appears to have all the necessary markings and to all intents and purposes is identical to the Intruder pictures I have taken from various internet sites. Can anyone tell me if this model was done earlier for Alfa Romeo.
Also, the digital display does not work, not sure if it ever did as I do not think the watch has ever been worn by my husband. Can anyone in the UK advise how much it would cost to repair.
I am happy to put photos on the forum but please tell me in idiots language how to go about it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Sue

Hi, first of all welcome aboard.

In the terms of loading pictures up, here are some simple instructions -

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=453&start=0

Now in terms of dating your watch, you are quite correct that the Intruder was made between 1998 and 1999, so an earlier one is something of a mystery....... assuming it's genuine of course. Post us up some pictures just to be sure.

However there is a way to accurately date your watch, although I'm not 100% if this numbering convention was in place the whole way through the 90's. What you need to do is remove (or get a jeweller to remove) the strap or bracelet from the watch, and between the lugs at the bottom (i.e. the "6" end) you will see 4 numbers engraved. The first two numbers are the week of the year (i.e. 01 - 52) and the last two numbers are the year (i.e. 10 would indicate 2010). So for example if the number said "3498", it would mean the watch was made in week 34 of 1998.

As I say I'm not 100% sure if this numbering was in place the whole way through the 90's, and I no longer have anything of that age to check for you.

Hope that helps.

:welcome:

According to Club Breitling Israel, the Intruder is from 1997. If anyone speaks Hebrew...

You should speak to a Breitling dealer to find out if Breitling still have replacement movements since some of the older quartz models are no longer available. If so, they will be able to get you an estimate of the cost.

Many thanks for the photo, you are the first to be able to produce a photo and give me a date.
I will make some enquiries regarding the part. If I strike unlucky then it is to plan B, whatever that may be.
Thanks again.

Here's another photo.

Apparently, they were produced between '98 and '99.

Good luck!

That's not the same one as the OP - that's just the regular version, not the Alfa Romeo SE.

Thanks for the info to date on my watch.
I have today taken it to a very old experienced watchmaker locally who is of the old school.

He says that he does not think there is anything wrong with the digital display but the book is needed to know which buttons to press and for how long.

When I got home I pressed some buttons and the display does move and now shows an alarm time. Unfortunately I do not know how to set the time and do not want to play around with the watch too much.

Can anyone help me with regard to the instruction booklet for this model or alternatively if anyone could tell me where to locate Breitling UK.

thanks again

Instruction manuals pop up on eBay once in a blue moon but I wouldn't hold my breath.

My guess would be you hold in the 8 pusher to change function and the 2/4 to change settings but I could easily be wrong.

As for BUK...
