Hello
I have just purchased a 18mm deployment clasp, and it will not stay shut (closed)?
Am i doing something wrong? should i feel a positive click as it closes?

Thanks for any help

You can adjust the clasp on a pilot or Pro II (etc) bracelet simply by SLIGHTLY bending the single metal piece that connects the two halves of the clasp together. This has the affect of slightly shortening or lengthening this piece and should allow you to adjust the clasp tightness, I would think you can do the same with a deployant clasp.

You don't have to bend in much at all and don't need a tool either, just use your fingers.

I think with the cost of an 18k deployant I'd be demanding my AD fix it

Indeed, but there's a hefty price difference between the 18k deployant and OP's 18mm deployant.

The deployment clasp works different to the Pro II bracelet clasp , it uses two push buttons one one each side
that are spring loaded. the buttons are always kept Under Pressure opened and closed by the springs .
if the spring is faulty or stuck the buttons on the clasp will be loose not under any pressure and it will not close .
:huh

Thanks for the advice.

There are no spring clips on the deployment?

Sparwood: what you are saying does make sense, how positive a click should i feel? should it be a firm press to locate the clasp? is it a case of bend a little and keep trying?

Thanks :D

Hi are we talking about the ocean racer deployment ? if so don't thing you should bend anything
there are 4 metal pieces on a deployment when clasp is open the two that are closer together
are spring loaded that's what locks in the deployment clasp..

That clasp you are referring to comes with the Ocean racer or diver pro rubber straps, and it does have a spring mechanism, the clasp that is meant for a croc or leather strap does not have this, it has basically the same mechanism as the deployant clasp on a Pro II, pilot or Navi bracelet, it is just an interference fit that holds the clasp together.

I guess how firm a press depends on how much of your finger nail you want to rip off when you open it :D . You shouldn't have to force it closed but you should here a click and it should be tight enough that it won't open on its own. Yes, just trial and error, at least that's what I did to adjust mine.
