I have a NW that has 2 problems or maybe it is normal. Maybe someone will know The first issue is that the slide rule is very tight and difficult to turn it has been like that since new. My AD said it would loosen up after a while however it has been almost a year and it hasn't. The second issue is a little strange, after wearing my watch for a while (enough time on my wrist that the watch is warm) when you tap the crystal lightly with your nail it has a hollow plastic sound. when the watch is cool, the sound is gone. this also has been since new
Any thoughts. is this normal? also, can I lubricate the slide rule in any way? when I wet the watch with water It becomes much easier to turn but becomes tight again when the water dries:?:

Thanks, this is my first time to this site. Really great. I have 2 Breitlings and in the process of buying another :D

:o Personally, I wouldnt deliberately let water anywhere near my Navitimer type watch. Especially to the extent that the water is actually getting into the bezel seal.

Welcome to the forum!

As ewen says - keep your Navi far away from the water. It doesn't like water at all. Instead of doing some private operations, just take it to your AD and ask, mention that it is still too tight even after a year. He'll suggest any appropriate action...

Good luck!

And, what model are you looking for?

As said above, you really are better off not getting a Navi anywhere near water..... and if you do then turing the bezel is the last thing you should be doing as it is more likely to let water in that way.

And IMHO you are much better off with a tight bezel than a loose one.

How about that hollow noise the crystal makes when I tap on it? anybody else with a NW experience that?

Not sure what you mean by a "hollow" noise, but another member mentioned that the glass had a funny effect when he tapped on his Navi because of some new Neoprene Seals that it uses now.

it sounds "plastic" not solid. when the watch os cool it sounds like any of my other watches "solid and tight" when the watch is warm on my wrist the crystal sounds loose like you are tapping on a plastic medication bottle

I have experienced the same nois when i tap on the crystal of my NW also. I have wondered about it but not have been over concerened. My watch i also under a month old and it has had no other problems. The slide rule is easy and free. It might be paranoid but i even take off my watch when i wash my hands

my navi world is a year and a half old. the slide rule is very stiff. i saw a video done by the admin i believe it was of the motors and it appears that he moves the slide rule very easily. is this a problem with mine?

When I tap the crystal on my Navi i guess it does sound different... less "Solid" sounding than my other lings, but I think that's just cuz the Crystal isn't built into the case but into the bezel instead.

My slide rules have never moved very easily.. they move, but they have always been stiff... perhaps my hercules strength gave this impression in the video ;)

Yeah that was definitely it, Admin!

The slide rule on my Navi World is nice and tight too. But personally I'd much rather it was like that than too loose, or else the water resistancy (such as it is on Navis!) would be potentially compromised even more.

Hi,

My 1-month old NW has exactly the same issues.

I confirmed on another forum that the "noise" issue when tapping the bezel or glass is not a concern.

My bezel is also tight. Doesn't bother me at all and I would suggest that there almost certainly is no problem with yours. I certainly wouldn't "lubricate" it with water to loosen it up or to make it turn easier. In fact, I believe it is tight because of the design of the water seal.

I actually use my slide rule (I call it an E6B) for flying stuff and it's great. :o

Regards,

Mike
