Post subject:  Breitling Colt Stopped Working

Hi this is my first post on here so hopefully it's in the right place. I've the chance to buy a Breitling Colt Automatic from a work colleague which stopped working a few years ago and never got around to being fixed. To be perfectly honest I know very little about Breitlings as I'd always considered to be out of my price league and I've a bit of a bad habit of losing jewellery and watches in the past. As far as I'm aware it was working fine and just stopped. What I'm after is a bit of help really if I buy it it will be a treat to myself for my 40th birthday next month so would really like to get it fixed/serviced then put it away for special occasions so don't want to pay out for something that's pretty much a write off and be of no real use to me. When these stop is it usually a expensive repair or is it a common thing that shouldn't be too expensive to get done.
Thanks in advance for any replies
Gareth

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

Generally speaking a watch that has stopped running can be fixed with a full service - $500 - $600. It will need one anyway because the oils will have broken down by now.

The only 'worse' issues will be if the watch was dropped / banged / etc and damaged things like dial feet, case, etc.

Bear in mind that an automatic Breitling will only run for 42 hours or so without being worn on wound unless it is kept on a watchwinder so if you are going to only wear it on special occasions then you will have to wind and set it each time.

And be carefull setting the date. Don't do it between 8 pm and 3 am. I don't after 6 pm just to be on the safe side.
