Hi,

I have a Breitling Navitimer 50th anniversary. Quite old, pre 1980s.

It stopped working, but today I managed to fix the movement. But I cant get the winder to stay in or to set the time.

Is there a nack to get the winder seated properly?. All it does is wind the watch.

Cheers :)

I'm not really sure what you mean here... When you say that you fixed the movement, do you really mean that you've opened it and performed watch surgery on it? If it's not working after that, I guess taking it to a service center and fix it properly will be quite expensive.

What do you mean by the winder? Briefly, from your explanation it sounds like you mean the crown. If that neither stays in place nor sets the time, again after own modifications of the watch, it sounds expensive. Unless you can get some qualified tips and tricks from Watchmakeress here on the forum, or happen to know a watchmaker among your friends.

Sorry I'll explain. A couple of years ago the watch would run and them stop after a few minutes of running.(Yes I had wound up the spring) I found a piece of grit stuck to one of the cogs today and it's running perfectly now.

But my next problem is that I cant get the crown to stay in the watch, also when I pull it out to set the time, it doesn't, it just winds the watch.

Ok. That still sounds to me as a watchmaker trip. Good luck!

Yeah I'm afraid it's in need of some surgery...
I'm guessing the crown is stripped, and the setting lever or yoke is out of position. Send it in for repairs...
