Post subject:  Date will not move on Breitling Cronomat Evolution

Hi all

I have a Breitling Cronomat Evolution only had it for 7 months or so. Sometimes I do not wear it so the time stops as it has run out of charge, so I have to wind the date on. Sometime I just wind the time forward to make the date change but recently I have been pulling the cap out two times and winding the date around.

I tried to move the date on today and it will not move on, it clicks and does not move to the next date. The date will move on if I wind the time forward but if it's 5 days out I have to wind time on loads of times.

please help

I can't say with absolute certainty but it certainly sounds like the quick date set feature of your Evo was accidentaly used between the hours of 8:00 pm and 3:00 am. Doing so can damage the mechanism and the only fix is a trip to the AD for repair.

Yep, that's the cause of problems like this 90%+ of the time.

Could it be that you are simply turning the crown the wrong way to change the date?

Man it's so easy to forget his - if the watch winds down and is between 8 and 3 you have no idea if it's 8pm-3am or 8am-3pm. Always assume it's 8pm-3am and don't use the quick date change feature until after you set the time in a safe zone. The fact that you hear a "click" and the date seizes suggests you are not simply turning it the wrong way. Be thankful you didn't try to force it - the watch would be broken.

Any idea on how much it costs to fix this problem? Just got a Montbrilliant with the same issue.
Thanks

I'm sure it's not the same thing, but i was told to set the time to 6 o'clock, then change the date....then reset the time properly.

It may not even be broken. Try taking the time out of 8-3 and then attempt to change the date. So long as you or a prior owner didn't force the date to the point the entire thing broke, there is a good chance you just need the time out of the danger zone.

That won't physically prevent the date from changing (unless it's broken).

@porter09 - cost will depend on what's actually broken - if the watch is under warranty then you may drop lucky, otherwise it's likely a few hundred bucks.
