| Post subject: | Leather strap and water? |
After lusting after a Breitling for close to 20 years I finally picked up a Blackbird this weekend. It came with a leather Breitling strap and I love the way it looks with the watch. However I'm heading down to Florida in a week or so and I'm planning on doing some swimming. Will this strap hold up if used in both the ocean and pool? |

If it gets wet then you can let it dry naturally (no artificial heat sources) and it should be OK, but it's not suitable for immersion. |

Neither of those would enjoy a dip in the pool, so neither will your watch strap. Just as an aside, there are some (non-Breitling) leather straps that are water resistant - kodiak being the ones to look out for if you want leather but also want to swim in it. |

I went to Torneau NY at lunch to see if I could purchase a rubber strap and they had none in my size and it was 6-8 weeks if I ordered it. I am leaving next Thursday so I may need to bring an additional 2 or 3 watches I can swim in! |

Tourneau hasn't always the best recommendations if you look here on the forum. There should be plenty of other ADs in NY that could sell you a rubber strap directly. If not, there should be some ADs in Florida that can help you out. |

There are rubber straps all over Florida. Just get one when you arrive.. |
