Post subject: | Should I send to BUSA for service?!? |
I've noticed that when I take off my 2009 Seawolf and lay it on its side and leave it for a few hours it will lose time. ALOT...anywhere from 5-10 minutes, depending on how long it it left fo. But I also noticed that when I leave it in the case case or wearing it, It looses nothing? Is this abnormal, something I should send it in for service? Or does leaving the watch in certain positions have an effect on the time keeping? MAC |

If it is losing 5-10 minutes a day, regardless of how it is rested, I would send it in, especially since it is under warranty. |

Crown down usually results in a gain in time and crown up will usually cause it to run a bit slower. This in my experience is usually only a matter of a few seconds over long hours. In a single night off of the wrist I can expect maybe 0.5 to 2 seconds up or down in an eight hour period but I would think that the time loss you describe of 5-10 minutes would be excessive and I might wonder if there might not be a problem. Roff or one of the experts could give you more info concerning a potential problem but I would tend to think that there is. |

Yes, but like I said, losing 5-10 minutes a day is unacceptable, regardless of the position of the watch. |

I agree totally, it's loosing too much time. It's strange that it's able to keep perfect time on the wrist while loosing that much time in one position. It seems that it would have to compensate by gaining an equal amount in a different postion. Elwyn |

No problem E. How old is the watch? If it's brand new, is there a chance it may need to be broken in if it hasn't been worn? I would test it over the course of a week, when you sleep at night. I.e. Monday night - Face up Tuesday night - Face down Wednesday night - crown up Thursday night - crown down And see if each night there is a large deviation. It could have been that the watch wasn't fully wound as well. I would test it some more before sending it off for regulation. |

5 - 10 minutes a day isn't breaking in. I'm not clear on whether it is only losing time in that one position or only when not worn. It could be a number of issues but the most obvious problem is a significant increase in friction in that position. That will be symptomatic of a serious problem that will need AD attention - cracked jewel, damaged arbor, etc. Get it in for some attention. |

Only loses time when on either side. When stored face up its fine. But I still found it abnormal to loose that much time in any position...my Evo doesn't have this happen. I Bought the watch in April so I assume its already past the breakin period. Its still under warranty, so as much as I hate to be without it for a few weeks, I'll just have to send it in. The chronomat hasn't been getting the attention it needs lately, but at least I have that until I get the Seawolf Back. Or I can just use this as an excuse to pick up a Navi World I've been debating on getting! Thanks for all the help! MAC |
