Something strange seems to be going on with my Evo and my Wolf Designs winder. The watch winds fine when I'm wearing it -- I've left it out of the winder (or the winder off) for many days, and as long as I wear it daily, it keeps on going with no problem. But it seems like the winder isn't doing its job properly. This morning I pulled my watch out of the winder after not having worn it for a few days, and it had stopped. I have the winder set to "clockwise," which I was pretty sure is right for the movement in the Evo. Is that wrong? Any other ideas about what's going on? |

Which model do you have, the 1.5 or 2.0 version etc? It should have a light that intermittently flashes green when the system is operational. Are you using batteries or the cord? |

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I have the 2.0 single winder. I'm using the AC adapter, and it the green light does blink. Depending on what I've been doing, I either use the "12" mode or the "on" mode. I know that it does rotate the watch (I've seen it moving). However, I haven't watched it intently for a long period of time, and I'm not sure what the expected rotation pattern is, so I don't know if it's consistently rotating correctly. It seems kind of hard to troubleshoot this, because there's no way to tell how much the watch has been wound (until it's so little that it stops completely)... |

It should be on option B, and set to "On". If your Chronomat Evo has been almost wound down and it is put in the winder if may not keep the watch wound, since it will not wind your watch up. You may want to try winding the watch all the way up and then sticking it in the winder to see how long that lasts. |

On the Wolf website, the picture of the 2.0 actually shows arrows above each option for which way it turns. Mine doesn't have that, so all I have to go by is what the manual says. Right next to that, there's a diagram that says: Quote: A-Counter-clockwise
B-Clockwise C-Both directions That implies the opposite: that B is clockwise. When I'm looking at the winder from the front, B makes the watch rotate counter-clockwise, A makes the watch rotate clockwise, and C does both. This seems to match the text, but not the diagram. I thought that my watch needed clockwise, which based on my observation and the text (but not the diagram, and not your instructions) would be A. I have a feeling I'm missing something. What is going on? Thanks for your help! |

You are correct. Option A will wind clockwise, B will wind counter-clockwise and C will alternate between both. I was going to ask you if the cover was latching fully but obviously if you have seen it winding it is functioning. I usually choose Option C (Steelfish winds both directions) with the 12 hour delay, only because I have been recently wearing the watch. Either way the rotation sequence should be as follows: winding clockwise for 20 min then counter-clockwise for 20 minutes followed by a 70 minute rest. This will continue for 7 hours and then the winder will remain dormant for 17 hours allowing the mainspring to release. Hopefully it is not dropping off after the first sequence of winding. I'm sure the last thing you have time for is sitting around watching a winder go through it's full program. |

This may not help, but I read on another forum that someone had a winder problem (not sure of the brand) and placing a small book under one edge solved it. I think the winder was rotating too flat so the watch wasn't getting wound. |

I read the manual online and it said B was clockwise, so that's where I got that info for it - it might very well be wrong if they misprinted. If A is indeed clockwise, then that would explain the lack of winding. Have you tried just looking at the winder and seeing if A or B is clockwise? that would be the easiest. Your watch does need the clockwise wind, so whichever mode gets you clockwise..

the SA uses the same caliber 13 as the evo, so i assume it would also only wind in the clockwise direction. jason |
