| Post subject: | Dial keeps stopping on Super Avenger... |
Hi, I'm new here and been searching to find any common posts to this but can't find any. I just purchased my first Breitling, the Super Avenger with black face. The watch looks amazing and I just feel different wearing it. Now, the watch is only 2 weeks old and the dial has stopped working 3 different times. Has anyone had this problem? Is it something I've done or should I just take it in under warranty and get them to look at it? Thanks in advance. |

Can you give us more information? I assume that you mean that the watch stops, or are you referring to the chronograph (big seconds hand and minute and hours subdials)? How frequently do you wear the watch and for how long? |

Im gonna chime in really quick...Just in case your talking about the time stopping on the watch..If your not aware...your super avenger is what is called an automatic watch. It runs on kenetic energy (movement by your wrist, a watch winder). A small rotor spins inside the watch which winds it and gives it energy which they makes it run. If you go too long with out the rotor spinning the watch looses its power and stops working (Hint why it may be behind in time). So your watch does not have a battery to keep it moving. Make sense to u? |

I haven't been wearing it to much because I don't wear it to work...so this could be the reason you are saying it's not working? It makes sense because if it sits for a day or two, that's when it stops. And yes, I mean the time and all the dials stop working, so I have to reset the time and date on the watch. |

The watch has a 42 hour power reserve - from a full wind it will run for 42 hours before it stops. If you wear it every day then it will go on for ever (or at least until it needs servicing), but if you aren't wearing it much then the mainspring is running down. Just wind the watch once a day - unscrew the crown and then wind it clockwise about 30 times before screwing the crown back down. That will keep the spring wound and the watch running. |

Queston.... With the poster saying this his second last message.. "And yes, I mean the time and all the dials stop working." My question is if you are running the chronograph and it stops, I assume when the watch receives motion it again continues? Just adding this in case the poster isn't aware only the small seconds hand is suppose to "tick" under normal operation. Also, it would be worth noting not to change the date between 9pm & 3am? or turn the time backwards. That was nearly a heart attack when I heard that and shows how new I am too. I don't think the SA has a quick set date, but didn't look because I just want it to make it a habit not to adjust any automatic at that time. |

The SA does have a quick set date, and in an automatic with a quickset date (unless it's instant change - which the SA isn't) then you should never use the quickset date between 8pm and 3am indicated time. You should also not wind time backwards in that same window. In terms of the chrono - yes, if the watch stops with the chrono running then the chrono will restart when there is power returned to the mainspring. |
