Hi all,

As im about to become a new :lingsrock: owner (30th birthday present) i decided to join a breitling Forum, this forum seemed have alot of good advice.

Over the last few weeks i have been trying to find information on the Cockpit i am about to purchase but have hit a dead end. In fact i cannot find the same watch anywhere on the internet.

Now im purchasing it through an official stockist listed on their website so its not the authenticity i want advice about but with little info on it i wondered if you experts could tell me a little about it and maybe give me some advice on the price and also the watch itself, maybe even forward me to some helpful Breitling websites?

The watch im purchasing is a Breitling Cockpit with a mother pearl face. Apparently i was told they did have a grey faced mother pearl Cockpit but that sold. Really would have liked to see what that one looked like. Its not the lastest Cockpit face design with the square its the one previous with circular design.

I have managed to get him down to £2950...is that a good price for an official stockist? Also does anyone here know much more about the watch.

Thanks in advance

I own the black dial version of that watch, mechanically the same as the MOP. I think it's a great watch, extremely versatile - what kind of information are you looking for?

In terms of price, I'm not familiar with UK prices so can't help much there.

Thanks for your response Roffensian.

Apologies my post wasnt very clear about what i wanted to know.

Does the mother pearl face and any value to the watch? Do the cockpits have any known problems with them?

I saw a black dialed version, it was lovely....in fact i was torn between that one and the mother pearl but opted for the mother pearl as it looked different.

Have you ever seen the dark faced mother pearl version?

Sorry for all the questions and again thanks in advance.

I'm familiar with the black MOP

Mop doesn't really add to value, in fact it may actually detract from resale slightly as it is a niche market look. The black MOP was a limited availability watch and that commands a slight premium.

There are no inherent issues with the movement, like any mechanical instrument there can be problems, but nothing specific to the cockpit.

Just want to add to Roffensians answer, as well as the MOP in one way might lower the second hand value (as it's niche) - for those who really are in the hunt for a MOP it might of course be the other way around.

For a few models I've bought I've searched for a specific dial color, while still considering other dial colors. That put me in the situation where I would consider a white dial for much less (ie a bargain) than the color I looked for, and I was willing to pay a premium for the right color.

Anyway, congratulations and welcome!

Thanks for your replies, info has been very helpful.

I see your point about the MOP being a niche market, which could detract from its value but i doubt i will ever sell this one as it is a 30th gift.

Would love to have seen the black MOP version though....dont suppose someone could link me to some pictures?

Sounds like i picked a good starter Breitling for my first one.

Will post some pictures up when i pick it up Friday :)
