I just purchased a Navitimer Montbrillant from it's original owner. I know it's authentic because I have his original sales receipt.

Anyway, I wound the watch 40 times the first time as instructed in the manual and I wore it for a full day.

The next day, it stopped running late in the afternoon.

The site says it should have 42 hours of reserve. What's wrong? Has anyone encountered this?

Mike

It sounds almost like the Automatic winding system is not functioning. When it stops, and you swirl the watch around does it start working again?

Yes, I can either twirl it or turn the crown and it starts running immediately.

Sounds very strange. You aren't using the chronograph functions on the piece are you?

Probably its a Montbrillant Edition, which is manual wind and not automatic? If it has the serialnumber A48330, then it is the Edition, and the watch behaves correct. Good watch. If it has the serialnumber A35330, it is a Montbrillant 1903 or if it has the serialnumber A41330/A41370, its the normal Montbrillant, then the automatic winding mechanism should work. If it does not, its a case for a service center.
