Got my first proper watch this Christmas, a Breitling Chrono Superocean. I haven't worn it this past few days due to being in bed ill so when I came to put it on this morning it had naturally stopped. Now as far as I'm aware you're supposed to wind them again for them to continue working but when I took it out of it's box I gave it a little shake and it started working again. I wound the watch anyways as I thought it wouldn't last particularly long with such little movement and you're supposed to wind them anyways, but it hasn't worked since.

I can't do anything to make it work. The large second hand on the chronograph has moved a 1/2 second somehow too. Am I missing something or did I do something wrong?

You did wind the watch manually about 35-40 times?

Did you make sure you pushed the stem back in?

Yes, I've done it all by the book but it just won't start. Bit off putting when you have a £50 watch for 9 years with no problems except the occasional battery change and you have a £2000 watch that doesn't even last 9 days.

IT LIVES!!! Tried everything for the past 10 hours with no joy. Gave it a final shake before condemning it and it started. Never going to remove it from my wrist again.

Thank you for the reply Flynbyu and I'll make sure to post some pictures once I have my camera to hand.

Good news!

I'm glad it's working.

You must have got the gears in motion by the little shake.
