Recently had my Breitling overhauled. When it was returned it was working perfectly except the second hand was not moving. It was stopped at the 12 o'clock mark so I sent it back. Spoke with watchmaker and he said he fixed the problem and was sending it back. Got it today, still having same problem. Before I call him and chew him out, does anyone have any ideas of what may be wrong? I have owned the watch for 5 years and every time I had to wind it the second hand started moving right away. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris

If I'm guessing correctly, you have a watch where the big hand went round every 60 seconds.

This is actually the chronograph seconds hand and doesn't work until you press the pusher at the 2 o'clock position. Pressing the same button stops the chronograph and the pusher at 4 resets to 12. The running ("ticking") seconds is on a small dial at 9 o'clock.

My guess is that your watchmaker merely stopped the chronograph running. If you like the chronograph seconds hand running all the time, just press the pusher at 2 when the running seconds is at 60.

If you're familiar with all this and it's more a technical issue, please excuse the above explanation (which works 9 times out of 10) and give us more details.

I agree with Sharky.

There is a possible reason why the running seconds isn't moving when the rest of the running train is, but it is highly unlikely on a watch that has been serviced and returned for verification.

Most just use the large second hand (chrono) to time something and use the small second subdial as the running time! With the large second hand running all the time you are really shortening the reserve power of the watch!!
