Hi, recently I purchased a 6.75 with speed bracelet and also an alternate brown croco with deployant. I have mainly been wearing the bracelet on a daily basis and keeping the croco for special occasions to keep the leather from getting sweaty and dirty.

This is the first deployant I have ever used on a leather strap and my question is this:

How strong should the clasp when closed be? The reason is that every now and again when wearing it the clasp pops open, for example sometimes when I put my palms down on the table and push to get up. I am worried that one day the watch may fly off my wrist and result in some damage!

I am guessing that this is probably not how it should be and should always be tightly closed?

when closed, there is some play in the clasp.

my only problem is that the watch was purchased in the USA whilst I am based in the UK. Can I take it in to a UK AD? I know that shouldn't be a problem with the watch, but not sure about straps/bracelets.

Thanks for any suggestions...

I've never had a problem with it coming open. There is a small amount of movement, but it has never come open, so definitely take it back. The fact that it's from the US doesn't matter, take it to an AD and get them to check it out.

Thanks for that. I thought that it wasn't normal for the clasp to pop open. I'll have to pop down to my local AD tomorrow. Cheers!

Just thought I would update following a trip to a local AD.

At first, the dealer wouldn't play ball as he tried to state that the warranty was invalid as the dealer had not filled out the dealers name and address and signature on the left hand side of the back inside cover, even though everything was in order on the right hand side!

In the end he fixed it himself by manipulating (bending!) slightly the curved arm of the deployant. Now the clasp closes with a satisfying click and does not come loose in any way.

However, I was a little disappointed with his attitude over the warranty book. Can anyone confirm to me if this is a requirement for Breitling that it must be filled in? I checked my warranty book for my 2001 chrono colt quartz and that is not filled in either on the left hand page. I have also seen the same with some watches for sale in the trade section, most recently Spartan's SOH 46.

Technically it needs to be filled in, but not at all unuusal for it not to be and I have never heard of it being a problem before. Sounds like an AD that didn't want to help!

Yes, I got that impression from him. When he saw that it was purchased in the US his attitude changed. It was a shame because it was a small independent shop and I may have made further purchases there as my immediate local AD is useless - Ernest Jones. The staff there seem to have no Breitling knowledge. When I went in prior to my US trip just to scope out prices, when asked for the level of discount of a Navi World I was told that -

"We do not offer a discount on Breitlings as this would besmirch the reputation of a premium brand." Needless to say I just chuckled and walked away.

When I returned from the US with my G@G 6.75, I wanted to check the price of a black croco tang strap. I asked for the price of a strap for a 6.75 I was asked for which model did you want it as this is more important than your wrist size!! They had never heard of the watch and had to look it up and kept saying "is it a Bentley GT?" "Is it a Bentley Motors?" I had to find it myself in their pricelist instead!

You would expect a certain level of knowledge from the staff if they are granted a dealership!
