Gents:

I took my SA to a local AD for a basic polish, since I got it back it seems to be losing time.....2 or 3 minutes a day.
Any thoughts.

JP

It's possible that the vibrations of the polishing wheel caused some problems with the balance. Take it back to the AD to get it checked out.

Magnetised?

Highly unlikely if it's losing time.

Magnetism generally affects the hairspring effectively shortening it, lowering the amplitude, increasing the frequency and speeding the watch up.

I know that the OP has the AD investigating but it sounds as though the vibrations from the polishing wheel caused some disturbance to the escvapement.

Man third time I'm typing this message and it doesn't get trough..

Anyway, this has nothing to do magnetizing, but heating the watch
by polishing it while the movement is still inside.

Tell me if you need more details.

I guess Alan and I must have missed the previous two.

But thank you for confirming what I already said that it's not magentized :!:

Sorry that I missed that.

Nice info on the shortening - did not know that.

Gents:

Just got in from offshore and went to the AD in Bergen to pick up my SA, it went to the Breitling repair center in Norway.
I have been away from home for 3 months and am a bit on edge....so I was not looking forward to the anticipated conversation as to who was going to pay for the trip to the service center.
I was presented with a bill for 1900 nok (about $300 canadian), I of course explained that the watch was working fine when I brought it in, after a short discussion the manager called the service center and I was able to talk to the man in charge there.......to make a long story short he had repaired the watch and replaced all the gaskets etc etc, after I explained that the watch was only a little over a year old and had been for service in Canada less that 6 monthes ago.....his response was all he wanted was for me to be happy and would not charge me, all he asked was that I scan the last 2 pages of my warranty book and e-mail them to him and to send him the book on my next trip over.

In short I can't say enough about the service provided to me by the Breitling service center in Norway and the AD in Bergen (Urmaker Bjerke). To any Norwegian members and to anyone who is looking to buy or needs service while in Bergen they are top notch, and a credit to Breitling.
Sorry this post is so long but I had a lot to say.

Thanks for all of your input
Jon
