Post subject:  New Emergency Owner - got a question.

Hey guys -

I just purchased a Emergency Pro II yesterday and I am having a question. When setting the time on the hands, the booklet says that you can move the hour hand only if you turn the crown at a higher speed. I have been sitting here now for a while trying the watch to do just that, but it is not possible. I tried every which direction and am wondering if there is another trick to this. Anyone else have experienced this? Any help is much appreciated.

This is my second Breitling. My first one is a 1996 TransOcean which I have now for 13yrs and is solid as a tank. Been dreaming about the Emergency ever since and finally pulled the trigger yesterday.

Here are some pix of my new addition :D :lingsrock:

No need to double post.

I've deleted the duplicate thread and I'm sure an Emergency owner will answer your question soon.

My apologies. I just noticed after the fact that I posted it in the wrong form. I'll just leave it as is if it happens again.

Thanks! :)

That is indeed normally the way to do it. If it doesn't work take it back to your dealer and let him worry about it.

Thank you Gert. I hope at this point it is user error. That would royally suck if that thing already had to be send in. I do not even know if a echange would be possible as they probably sent in the paperwork already to Breitling (Registration/Terms of Sale etc). Everything else is woring 100%. So maybe the problem is me....Going back tomorrow to see what the deal is.

Also, Is it true that Breitling offers Emergency owners a complimentary "Free 2 yr Tune-up"? I found this here:

First service (= when the battery runs out off juice in +/- 3 years time) is indeed completely free. The next service will be around +/- 400 eur. That's steep for a quartz but remeber that each time the Dassault emergency transmitter has to be overhauled so that brings the cost to what it is. Also remember that this service will not be carried out by your dealer but (in Europe) by Breitling HQ Switzerland itself so hold in mind it will take about +/- 5 to 6 weeks until you get it back, that is if you do not bring it in july... than Breitling closes down for a couple of weeks and it takes even longer. But it's a special watch and I like it a lot. If you can find one try to get an extra UTC and matching strap for it.

Hi Gert! Beautiful watch! I'm definitely considering the UTC. DAMN!

Also, I spoke with Breitling Tech Support just now. And they are saying that the hour pointer by itself CANNOT be moved individually. What they are refering too in the booklet is that if you move the crown at a faster speed, the time will change by the hour. So I guess according to this my Emergency is working to their specs.

So you are able to move the hour pointer only when spinning the crown at a faster speed?? Could you make a lil video clip?

I thought that was what you meant in your first question so my bad. It is like they told you so no worries there anymore. Keep checking Ebay for that UTC, it's a must :lingsrock:

LOL - probably my fautl for being not clear enough. On my TransOcean I am able to move the hour pointer by itself when I pull out the crown twice. So when I read the instructions it seemed like the Emergency would do that too if you spin the crown at a faster speed. so I guess I got confused with the "hour pointer only" vs "hour and minute pointer at same time". Thanks again for your help!

I will keep checkingfor the UTC. Since you mentioned bracelet, I assume that you need a special bracelet and cannot use the current one and just take links out?

Sorry for all the questions! :guns: Ollie

That's right, you got to keep that in mind. Also allways go for one with the same dial colour as the watch. It never looks good to have another dial colour on your UTC (no matter what others may say, I think it looks horrible). I see you are somehow lucky to have the black dial, the coral one on mine is even more difficult to find in UTC form.

yeah - I hear ya. I would want it to match for sure. Yours looks absolutely stunning. They had the yellow one at the store as well, but I figured black might be a better choice as I am not sure if I would get sick of the yellow too fast. My wife was hoping they had the organe one like you have...but no go.

Thanks again for all the help. This all is much appreciated.

No problem, glad to help a fellow E-owner (not to much of us here so we got to stick together  ). I think if you are gonna wear the E as an everyday watch the black is the better option. I wear it only occasionally and bought it as a "funwatch" so for me the coral dial was the only one I wanted... combined with the coral UTC it's not a watch for the faint of heart and you allways get questions about it. Enjoy it !

Yes, you need 886E ProI bracelet and E70175 UTC module.
